4/07 Predictors of Mortality Among a Multi-ethnic Cohort of Hospitalized Elderly Patients with Acute Decompensated Heart Failure at a Community Hospital
Columbia University. Research Advisor: Matthew Maurer
Using Cox-Proportional Hazards analysis in SPSS, generated a predictive model of mortality in this cohort of patients. Abstract presented at Societry of Geriatric Cardiology Annual Conference.
8/03-9/04 Hepatitis C Prevalence Study in Newark, NJ

Retrospective chart review (Electronic Medical Records) of patients admitted to the University Hospital in Newark to the services that uniformly check hepatitis C serology on all patients in order to describe prevalence of HCV in the community and to compare with other studies. Data presented to the NJ Department of Health.
8/2002 HIV-1 Tat protein interactions
UMDNJ. Research Advisor: Tsafi Pe'ery
Studied the binding of the HIV-1 Tat protein to the cellular positive transcription elongation factor b, as well as potential regulatory proteins involved in this interaction. Learned basic concepts of yeast two-hybrid screen experiment.
